Adele Crocker

The family of Adele Crocker (nee Folkes) announce her peaceful death at her home in Saskatoon on March 6 after an eight year struggle with a brain tumour. Adele is survived by her husband of 44 years, Neil and her sons, Adam (Joanna) and Dane (Jenny) and beloved granddaughter, Alison.

Adele was born in Winnipeg in 1951 and grew up and was educated in Saskatoon . She obtained her B.Sc. in Home Economics (Dietetics and Nutrition) from the University of Saskatchewan . She had a very satisfying, successful and eclectic professional career across Canada . Her work varied from managing dietary departments in acute care to her work in public health. She did course development and lectured at universities and community colleges. Her final position was in Regina as Regional Manager (SK, MB) of Population Health with the Public Health Agency of Canada.

Adele made many lifelong friends everywhere she went and continued to communicate with them regularly. Adele had a passion for entertaining, travelling and quilting. She loved getting together over a home cooked meal to visit and reminisce. Adele and Neil travelled extensively over the past eight years with family and friends in between medical procedures and treatment protocols. Their travels took them across Canada and the US , to Mexico , Cuba , Belize and Europe . Her favourite vacation destinations were Mexico , Palm Springs and Europe . Many family and friends were fortunate to have received one of her quilting works of art and proudly have them on display in their homes. Her keen mind, sense of humour, her integrity and compassion will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Adele is also survived by her mother, Viola, and stepfather George, her sister, Donna (Bob Lee) and their children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her father, Harry.

The family would like to thank Adele's medical team for the excellent care she received during her illness. Thank you to Drs. Fourney,Tellez, Masiowski, Vacchrajani, Sami and Marushak. Special thanks to nursing and the many interdisciplinary team members who provided tender care and assistance that enabled Adele to remain in her home.

A Celebration of Adele's Life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Adele's memory may be made to the RUH Foundation - Epilepsy Fund ( 103 Hospital Drive S7N 0W8).
