With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Agustin Manlolo, a loving husband, father and grandfather, who peacefully left us on January 8, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on August 3, 1962, in San Agustin, Romblon, Philippines, Agustin touched the lives of all who knew him with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering strength of character.
Agustin was the beloved husband of Rizalita Manlolo and a proud father to Lycka, Kris, Jhon Vincent, Greg, Khen, and Leanne. His family was the center of his world, and his love for them was evident in everything he did. He instilled in his children the values of faith, kindness, honesty, generosity, and responsibility. His guidance and love will forever remain in their hearts.
As a young man, Agustin began his life on the ocean, working as a fisherman at the age of 16. His passion for the sea was unmatched, and over the years, he became a skilled navigator-often sharing fascinating stories of his adventures, many of which included sailing without a compass, relying on his deep understanding of the waters. His knowledge of the ocean was a gift, and his journey led him to build a successful fishing business that not only supported his family but also helped countless locals in the Philippines. Known for his trustworthiness and hard work, Agustin earned the respect of his community, becoming a beloved figure in San Agustin.
Agustin loved to sing karaoke, often bringing joy to family gatherings with his heartfelt performances. Agustin also made the best halo-halo, a beloved Filipino dessert, and sizzling sisig. He was known as the best host, always ensuring everyone felt welcome and well-fed.
Agustin made the selfless decision to move to Canada, not for his own benefit, but to secure better futures for his children. This sacrifice was a testament to the deep love he had for his family. It was here that he created cherished memories with his family, particularly during the summers spent boating on Blackstrap and Diefenbaker Lakes. His connection to the water remained an important part of his life, and these memories are treasures his family will hold close.
Agustin was deeply grateful to Uncle Efren Manlolo, and Aunty Rita Manlolo, who generously sponsored his family's move to Canada. The bond between Efren and Agustin was one of profound love and mutual respect, with Efren treating Agustin like his own son. Efren's kindness and unwavering support will always be remembered with heartfelt gratitude.
Throughout his life, Agustin's faith played a central role. In his later years, he found peace in studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses. Agustin found comfort in Jehovah's promise of resurrection and took solace in knowing that, through God's grace, he would one day be reunited with his loved ones in Paradise.
Agustin is survived by his loving wife, children, and his extended family and friends, all of whom will forever cherish his memory. While he is no longer with us, his love, faith, and the lessons he imparted will continue to guide and inspire us. We take comfort in the knowledge that we will see him again in a future where all will be restored to perfect health and happiness.
The viewing will take place on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at the Saskatoon Funeral Home at 338 4th Ave North, Saskatoon, SK.
