Albert Pan

May 19, 1995 — April 6, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Albert Gaochi Pan, beloved son and brother, on April 6, 2025. Albert was born in Saskatoon on May 19th, 1995, and attended the École Lakeview School before moving to the South Corman Park School in 2005 and graduating from the Clavet Composite School with honors in 2013.

Albert was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) in 2001 and has been battling with this disease all of his life. Albert enjoyed traveling with his family in China, Mexico, the USA and Canada. Albert loved attending heavy-metal concerts, especially progressive-metal and he was able to rock-out and meet many of his favorite bands and artists across the world. He was also an avid history and animal lover, with Albert visiting every aquarium, zoo and museum that he could go to; the San Diego Zoo and the Smithsonian museums in Washington, D.C. were his favorites. His most loved bands are Devin Townsend Project, Nightwish, Animals as Leaders, Scale the Summit, Amon Amarth and Dream Theater. He was able to attend Prog Power in Atlanta, Georgia, Heavy MTL in Montreal, and countless concerts across Canada and the USA. His dreams were achieved when he was able to see and meet Dream Theater, his favorite band, in person at their concert in Toronto. Albert also loved going to theme parks, having his wish come true at 14 with Make-A-Wish, and going for a spin at Disney World, Universal Studios and SeaWorld. Above all, Albert treasured his time at all schools, especially with teachers, education assistants, and friends at the Clavet Composite School. He successfully took multiple challenging courses in computer science, history, and math at the University of Saskatchewan before his health did not allow him to go any further. Albert loved dry humor and enjoyed online PC games, especially FPS's and RPG's/MMORPG's. He was able to find solace in playing his PC games with friends virtually and in-person with his brothers and best friend, Brandon Brissaw. Albert and his brothers spent countless hours playing Hot Wheels, Lego's, Nintendo 64 and Wii, Xbox, and, later in his life, PC gaming. Albert never let any challenges stop him from achieving his goals and has fought hard his entire life. He was the strongest, most intelligent, and kindest person one could know, and he touched many hearts.

Albert has gone to a better place and our love will always stay with him. He can now walk and move freely, and Albert will continue to look after us. Albert was the best brother, friend and son that one could ask for. Albert Pan will be missed dearly, and his loving memory will be survived by Jack Pan (brother), Henry Pan (brother), Yuanming Pan (father), Suhua Chen (mother), and many other family members back in China.
