On July 25, 2025, we lost a great husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Allan Robert Stewart passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Cheryl, his children Gene, Barry, Pam (Scott), Crystal (Trymore), Chelsea and grandchildren Ava, Benson and Brock. He also leaves behind his loving pets Molly and Queenie. He is survived by his sister Carolyn (Terry) and brothers Albert and Donald (Joanne), sister-in-law Donna (Enzo), brothers-in-law Daryl and Kelly (Suzanne), and many more family and friends. The family would also like to acknowledge a very special person in our lives, Anita Froese. It would take a book to write down all the people that Allan has touched in his life. Allan was predeceased by his parents Eldred and Florence Stewart and brother Lorne. In his younger years he played hockey, baseball, football and soccer and coached his kids sports as they grew up. Some of his fondest memories and friends were from his years at the Star Phoenix where he worked and was the goaltender for the Old Types hockey team. Allan was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in his mid-twenties but despite the difficulties this caused he continued to work and give his time and skills unselfishly to help those closest to him. Allan was a jack-of-all-trades and was always willing to lend a helping hand to his family and friends. Whether it was installing a hardwood floor or fixing a broken-down car, he was always there to help. Family was the most important thing of all to him and he would do anything for them.
In his early fifties he went to university and received a degree majoring in Indigenous Studies. He loved politics, history, and reading and taught himself how to renovate homes. Even though he had a quiet demeanor he was always making friends wherever he went. Recently when asked who he would like to have a conversation with living or dead he replied "Galileo"; this should not surprise anyone who knew him as Allan was always interested in figuring out how things worked. His passing leaves a large hole in our hearts, and we will miss him dearly. As per Allan's request, there will be no funeral service held.
