Obituary

Anna Zelantini, our beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, at St. Paul's Hospital on July 15, 2026, shortly after celebrating her milestone 102nd birthday. Though we will miss her deeply, we find joy in celebrating a remarkably long, vibrant, and beautiful life.

Born on July 5, 1924, in Casacalenda, Campobasso, Italy, Anna brought the warm, rich traditions, and lively spirit of Italy to Canada in 1964. She was a woman who knew how to turn a house into a home, and she was always the heart of it.

Anna’s hands were rarely still and in her earlier years you could almost always find her tending to her garden or busy in the kitchen, cooking and baking things that brought the whole family together. Beyond her home, she dedicated many years of hard work as a laundress at St. Paul’s Hospital. She held immense pride in her work and spoke of the hospital and her contributions there with deep, lifelong affection and honor. She was also masterful at creating beautiful, intricate crochet, and she constantly filled the home with music. She sang throughout her lifetime—from her daily routine to lively visits with her family.

Anna is reunited at last with her beloved husband, Giovanni Zelantini, who passed away in 2001. She is also now at peace with her parents, Gianbattista and Carmella Montagano; her brothers, Pietro and Giuseppe; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nicola and Maria Concetta Zelantini; her sisters-in-law, Maddalena Stellitano, and Maria Grosso; and her brothers-in-law, Domenico Zelantini, Salvatore Stellitano, Vincenzo Odorico, and Emeric Domokos.

Anna’s greatest pride and joy was the family she built. Her loving legacy lives on through her three sons, Nicolino (Giuliana), Tito (Angelika), and Antonio Zelantini. Her vibrant spirit will continue to shine brightly in her grandchildren: Remo (Corrie), Gianni, Dino (Carly), Silvia (Christian), Dion, Amber, and Chantel (Brent). She was also blessed to be the incredibly proud bisnonna (great-grandmother) to Carissa, Ava, Aurelia, Julietta, Marina, Arabella, Quinn, Gio, Owen, and Stella. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Teresa Ordorico-Domokos and Velia Montagano, her niece Silvy Montagano, her brother-in-law Michele Grosso, and many other beloved family members and lifelong friends.

Her long life was a gift of song, laughter, and cherished family gatherings. We will love you always, keeping you close in our hearts and memories, with your melody echoing in our homes forever.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff at St. Paul’s Hospital for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Anna and family during her time there.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday July 23,2026, 11:00 am at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Parish. The interment at Woodlawn Cemetery Catholic Section will follow the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Anna's memory may be made to the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation (1702 20th Street West, Saskatoon, SK, S7M 0Z9) or online at sphfoundation.org.
