Anneliesa (Anneliese) Emma Kristiansen (née Boehmler)

Anneliesa passed away on September 27, 2026 at Stensrud Lodge in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Anneliesa had a fierce spirit and lived a full life as a doting spouse, loving mother, dear friend, and dedicated volunteer despite battling MS for over 40 years.

Anneliesa was born in Stuttgart, Germany on July 19, 1942. Although Saskatoon was home for most of her life, she remained a proud German citizen until her death. In 1958, Anneliesa moved with her parents, brother, and aunt to Canada. Her brother, Robert, introduced Anneliesa to Oistein Kristiansen, who would soon become her husband. Oistein and Anneliesa raised two sons, Thor and Alexander, who would go on to successful professional careers due in large part to their parents' support.

Anneliesa was an excellent homemaker, which included tending a large garden, preparing traditional culinary fare, and maintaining a large, comfortable home just outside Saskatoon. Anneliesa was a formidable host. She hosted many events of nearly 50 people without the need for a caterer.

Anneliesa devoted much of her spare time to volunteering, including her sons' school activities; serving as a docent and fundraiser for the Mendal Art Gallery; and a fundraiser for the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra. She also devoted a portion of her time to the family construction business.

Anneliesa loved art in its many forms. Pottery and painting were both favorites. In more recent years, she painted with Big Sky Artists with a penchant for the abstract. Her best works relied on her intuitive and spontaneous nature. Anneliesa was also an avid collector of art and an armchair student of art history, with many volumes devoted to the masters.

Anneliesa is predeceased by her parents, Erwin and Emma Boehmler; her aunt, Anna Merz; her parents-in-law, Alfred and Signe Kristiansen; her husband, Oistein; her brother, Robert Boehmler and sister-in-law, Elfride; and her sisters-in-law, Aud, Odveig, and Eva. Anneliesa is survived by her son, Alexander (Tina); her son, Thor (Elizabeth); her grandchildren, Amanda, Jarret, Sierra, Quinn, and Rayna; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Erwin (Trish), Birgit (Frank), Magda, Eva (Gernot), and Dorothea. Anneliesa is also survived by numerous relatives who reside in Norway (including sisters-in-law, Erna and Ann Jorunn) and Germany, and a great many friends in Canada and beyond.
