Annie GRAY (Spizawka, nee Dyok)
Annie passed peacefully in the early morning Easter Monday April 10, 2023. Born in Saskatoon, March 22, 1932, Annie was 2 months old when her parents Joseph (Dyok) Mary (Warcaba) and sister, Pauline, moved to a farm in the Daphne area. At 20 years of age, she married Nick Spizawka (deceased 1984). Annie and Nick lived in Toronto where Donna was born. Six months later they returned to the farm at Daphne, where Annie worked at the Quill Lake hospital for the next two years. Nick, Annie and Donna then moved to Saskatoon where Patrick and Timothy were born. She worked at Bethany Home for unwed mothers, which she so enjoyed. When Simpson Sears opened Annie worked in sales and accounting.
In 1973 Annie moved to Victoria where she completed a secretarial course and worked for the BC Ministry of Health, hearing aid division. In 1985 she married Allan Gray (deceased 2001). In 2006 she returned to Saskatoon where she lived on Spadina Crescent, Primrose Chateau and most recently Parkville Manor. She often spoke of her friendships at Parkville and of the staff that were so helpful to her.
Annie was an accomplished square dancer, ballroom dancer and quilter. She created beautifully designed quilts which she gifted to many. She enjoyed music having been part of the Sweet Adelines in Saskatoon. Her New Apostolic church family was a blessing in her life for many years.
