Bill Kezema

February 2, 1938 — May 25, 2025

Bill Mike Kezema, of Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on May 25th at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, at the age of 87.

Bill was born on February 2, 1938, on his parent's family farm near Pleasantdale, SK. He was one of four siblings, with an older sister and two younger brothers. Bill was an independent and kind man, who valued time shared with family & friends, hard work and the simple pleasures of life. He held his beliefs with strong conviction and was the type of person who would choose to repair something over buying new. He loved engaging in his lifelong passion for nature and the outdoors, in every season, while farming, hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling and riding his quad. He enjoyed playing card games at gatherings and completing challenging word search puzzles while relaxing.

Bill built his life's work with CN Rail and as a miner, and later as a bus driver, park maintenance manager, auto mechanic, and farmer - often accomplishing a few of these roles at the same time. He grew crops and gardens, raised cattle and a plethora of other farm animals, and always had a soft spot for rescuing orphaned wildlife. While he moved with his young family to Thompson, MB, and Naniamo, BC, during the early years of his first marriage to Bev, his heart always drew him back to Saskatchewan and living in the countryside. After selling the family's Pleasantdale farm to move to Hudson Bay in 1976, he soon acquired land by Erwood and called it home for the rest of his life. He leaves a legacy of love and respect for the wilderness, instilled in all his children and passed to theirs.

Bill was a loving father and is survived by four daughters, Toni (Jason) Porat, Lori (Keith) Anton, Sherri Fasthuber, and Cyndi (Ryan) Kruetzwieser, and two stepdaughters, Angela (Kevin) Karvelson and Maria (Dodd) Ulrich.

He was a proud grandfather to Kailynn (Cam) and Carlene (Rylan) Adrian, Kiefer and Hannah (Liam) Morrell, Bryn Anton, Dyllian and Matthew Fasthuber, Paige (Philip) Tolton, Adrienne Wager, Karvel and Jocelyn Karvelson, Alex and Josh Fraughton and Nick (Hansol) Fraughton-Park, and great-grandchildren Nathan, Harper, Fiadh, Shawn and Nicole.

Bill is survived by brothers Johnny (Gayle) Kezema and George (Karen) Kezema and numerous nieces and nephews. A special mention of his dear friends Ken and Lyne Park, and Dave, Mary and John Bober, whose support and friendship have meant so much over the years.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 20 years, Barbara Kezema, his parents, William and Mary Kezema, his sister, Lena Moskal, and stepson Karl Grassing.
