Blain Joseph Young

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Blain Joseph Young on September 29th, 2026 at the age of 71. He was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend.

Blain was born in Macklin, Saskatchewan on April 10th, 1955, to Mary and Pius Young. He grew up on the family farm in Salvador where he farmed with his dad Pius and his brothers Frances and Glenn for many years, during this time he also worked as a carpenter completing many projects in and around the town of Denzil. After moving to Saskatoon, Blain worked for many years at Mitchell's Gourmet Foods where he moved around to different positions throughout the facility. When Mitchell's closed it doors, Blain worked as a Window and Glass Fabricator and finally, after retirement, he found his true passion and love of Forging Metal for Home and Yard Décor which was known as Backyard Man Crafted Creations. Many of Blain's creative pieces of art reside in homes across Canada and the U.S.

Blain's biggest joy was his family and the love of his life, Corrine. He took such great pride in his children and grandchildren. Blain loved nothing more than to help others and always put everyone else before himself. Blain truly was the keystone in our family that was always there to support and keep us together. It didn't matter about the time of day, Corrine and his children knew he was only a phone call away. His kindness was immeasurable.

It has been said many times that people remember Blain as always being the life of the party and any function was better when Blain was in attendance. His radiant smile lit up every room that he walked into. Blain had a passion for making music any way he could. Throughout the years, every family member, friend, or neighbor, heard him performing "Tie Me Kangaroo Down" on a 4x6 piece of particle board or filling the room with the sound of his guitar and singing. Blain and Corrine loved to make music and entertain together. Throughout his lifetime Blain was also an avid sportsman, he loved to play hockey, baseball, broom ball, curling, volleyball, pool and hunting. He truly put his whole heart and soul into everything that he loved.

Blain will forever be remembered by his soulmate and best friend of 30 years, Corrine, his children and grandchildren; Nikayla - Destynee & Kaylee, Maxwell (Kirsten) - Jett, Oaklynn & Isla, Nicole (Jay). Siblings; Frances Young (Mary), Donna Rogal (Pat), Karren Walker (Kevin), and Glenn Young. Blain will also be remembered by his many cousins, nieces, nephews and anyone who had the joy of knowing Blain throughout his life. Blain is predeceased by his Father and Mother, Pius and Mary Young, and his Mother-In-Law Marion Heidt.

We would like to thank the Doctor's and Nurses in the Observation Unit at Royal University Hospital for their delicate care and love of Blain during a most difficult time. We would like to give a special thanks to Father Doug Jeffrey for his support of the family and praying over Blain at the time of his passing. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatoon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 7th, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Parish, 3339 Centennial Drive, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Following the lunch, the family will leave for the Internment to put Blain at his final resting place. For those who would like to join us, you are welcome to follow us to Woodlawn Cemetery.
