It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden death of Brad Kovach on Monday September 16, 2024 at the age of 45. Brad is lovingly remembered by his wife Alison, daughter Anika Kovach, parents Dave (Sheila) Kovach and Laura (Rob) Miron, sister Kim (Colin) Taylor (Callie and Linden), step siblings Candie Metcalf, Ray Miron, Destiny Hartman, and their families, along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Brad and Alison were married in 2014 and had their daughter in 2016. Anika was the love of Brad's life. He was a dedicated father and spent most of his spare time teaching Anika how to skate, play soccer and basketball, bike rides and making special dinners. Brad was an incredibly talented man. He enjoyed woodworking and renovating his home. Brad loved putzing around the yard and garden with Anika.
He loved all sports, starting hockey at the age of 5 and playing for the Saskatoon minor hockey league then moved on to basketball and hockey in high school. Brad also played for the University of Saskatchewan Huskie Basketball team, hockey for the Viscount-Colonsay Hitmen, teaching waterskiing and basketball in Boston, Massachusetts, snowboarding and wakeboarding, among rooting for his absolute favorite of all time hockey team, the Boston Bruins. He and his sister Kim had an ongoing rivalry between the Bruins and the Canucks. Brad had a love for music and taught himself guitar, which he played often for Anika and their dance parties.
Brad received his Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 2004 and worked in numerous jobs in the health care industry and spent the last 12 years working with the Saskatoon Health Region in various managerial capacities. Brad was born at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon June 12th, 1979. He grew up in Saskatoon and attended Wildwood and Holliston elementary schools and continued his high school education in Clavet and Hanley, graduating in 1997 from Clavet.
Brad lived in West Vancouver for a brief time where he worked at the Boathouse restaurant with his brother in-law, Colin, and became close with his niece Callie. Brad had a love for all children, and they were drawn to him throughout his life. Brad's Godson Boston Nickel and his sister Hazel were extremely close with Brad and will miss his wrestling and hide and go seek games. At social gatherings, you would find him playing with the kids or the animals. He adored his beloved pets Lenny and Sonny, two yellow Labradors. In July he adopted his dog, Lucy from the S.P.C.A. Brad felt strongly about the safety and welfare of all animals and spent lots of time visiting the animal shelters.
Brad will always be remembered by his "quiet," deep voice, calm and gentle mannerisms, love of a practical joke, took pleasure in a good debate, deep empathy for others, his love and dedication for friends and family, genuine care, and concern for others, and of course the Boston Bruins. Brad's smile could light up the room.
We love you and miss you so very much. You will be forever in our hearts. We are comforted in knowing you are with Grandma Klaehn, Grandma Kipling, Teddy, Kevin, Lenny, and Sonny.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the S.P.C.A.
