Brian Raymond Lins was born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan on June 6th, 1963, the youngest of three sons of Herman and Rosemarie (Flory) Lins. Brian grew up on the family farm north of Humboldt. He obtained his elementary education in Humboldt at St Dominic and St Augustine Schools, then attended high school at Humboldt Collegiate Institute where he graduated with the class of 1981. He went on to attend Lethbridge Community College and obtained his certificate in Engineering Drafting Technology in 1985. This formed the foundation of his professional life as a Structural Design Specialist, a career that spanned 40 years. This is a testament to his strong work ethic and dedication to his craft.
Brian married Glenna Dale on August 27th, 1988, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Carmel, Saskatchewan. They made their home in Saskatoon where Brian was employed as a Draftsman and Glenna was an elementary school teacher. They were blessed with 2 children, Brittney and Blake, and recently his grandson, Anderson. He was a loving father who was involved in all his children's sports and activities, and he always encouraged and supported their pursuit of education. Recently, spending time with Anderson was a source of great joy for him.
Brian was a true outdoor enthusiast. From a young age he loved camping, fishing, and hunting. His spot at Greenwater Lake was particularly special to him. Brian loved getting out of the city for road trips and taking the scenic route with his family. The Rocky Mountains and West Coast were favourite destinations. He also enjoyed travel to Hawaii, Mexico, Palm Springs, and Australia.
Brian was a talented athlete. In his youth he loved baseball and later played slow-pitch. He excelled in swimming, track and field, and enjoyed basketball during high school. In recent years, he golfed regularly with his friends and colleagues in the Tuesday Evening Golf Social group (TEGS) which he looked forward to every week.
Brian was a great person to talk to. He had a calm, relaxed, and light-hearted manner, and he was simply fun to be around. He made normal days special, and special days unforgettable. He will be lovingly remembered as a beloved husband, a caring father, doting grandfather, and a loyal friend.
