Brian Peter Penner

Aug 6, 1964 — Jun 30, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Brian Peter Penner of Saskatoon, who left us suddenly but peacefully at Royal University Hospital on June 30, 2026, at the age of 61, surrounded by loved ones.

Brian leaves to mourn his loving wife of 29 years, Tracy, and their child, Keegan. He is also lovingly remembered by his mother, Elizabeth; his four brothers, Darryl (Cheryl), Randy (Jacquie) and their children Carina and Rachael, Richard (Shelley) and their child Olivia, and Eugene (Shelley) and their children Katherine (Dakota) and Benjamin. He will be dearly missed by his father-in-law Mark Depeel, brother-in-law Trevor, and brother-in-law Terry (Pam) and their children Jayden, Brenna, and Rowen.
Brian was predeceased by his father, Peter Penner (September 3, 2015).

Brian worked for many years at
Astro Towing Ltd., where he worked alongside some great people and earned himself the nickname Big B., until he left Astro Towing to join his brothers in their company.

For more than 20 years, Brian worked alongside his four brothers at their company, CWI Mfg. Ltd. He loved his work and the challenges and rewards that came with it. Working with his brothers was a true gift for the whole family. Brian deeply cared for his "work family," and they for him. He was known for sharing his "dad jokes" during coffee breaks, filling the workplace with laughter and warmth.

Outside of his devotion to family, one of Brian's greatest passions was music. This love began when he was very young, when his Aunt Marie introduced him to The Beatles, and he bounced in his jolly jumper to the rhythm. Over the years, Brian built an impressive record collection spanning all genres. He loved searching for "new-to-him" music, but even more, he loved sharing these musical "gems" with family and friends. Most recently making music collections for his nephew Benjamin, this brought him such great joy.

For many years, Brian was known as "The Captain of Pirate Radio" on community radio station CFCR 90.5 FM. Even after he stepped away from hosting, his passion for CFCR never faded. The friendships he made, the music he shared, the interviews he hosted, and his dedication to fundraising and supporting community radio remained a cherished part of his life.

Brian's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Pearce, Dr. Parent, and all of the caring and compassionate nursing and medical staff of the CSS, CCU and
CICU at Royal University Hospital. They worked tirelessly to keep Brian with us, giving our family the precious gift of time to say a final farewell.

We also extend heartfelt thanks to all who have supported Brian's family during this difficult journey. Your prayers, love, and kindness have been deeply appreciated.

There will be no interment at this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to
CFCR 90.5 FM Community Radio (cfcr.ca/donate). Your contributions in his name would mean a great deal.

Brian was one of the kindest, most empathetic men most of us will ever meet. He was an easy man to love, which makes him such a hard man to let go. His warmth,
humour, and generous spirit will be forever cherished by all who knew him.

Fly high Captain, until we meet again.
