Bruce Wesley Vernon Marsland

MARSLAND, BRUCE
1954 - 2018

Sergeant (Retired) Bruce Marsland passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on May 17, 2018.Bruce was born on August 13, 1954 in Ottawa, ON to Vernon and Doris Marsland, joining big brother Cam to complete the family.  As their parents were Officers in the Salvation Army, the family moved around the country a lot.  Bruce finally settled in Saskatoon and joined the Saskatoon Police Service on November 18, 1974 retiring  from the job he loved on May 31, 2003.Bruce is survived by his wife, Rina, his sons, Warren Phillips and his family, Nathan Marsland and his children, Ryan Marsland (Shaunna Macdonald) and Jordan Marsland;  his stepchildren, Cheyenne Jones and Kieran Jones .  He is also survived by his brother, Cameron  Marsland (Mandy) and his family, and Rina's  extended family.  He will be especially missed by his constant companion and cohort in trouble for the last few years, his beloved dog Dash. The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who provided care to Bruce in his final days, you all made a difficult time a little better. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run are appreciated. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Salvation Army Saskatoon Temple, 38 Bateman Crescent, Saskatoon, SK.
