Calvin "Cal" Friesen

With heavy hearts, the family of Calvin Rudie Friesen announces his passing on October 2, 2025, at the age of 79.

Calvin was truly a jack of all trades. Over the years he worked as a plumber and pipe fitter, a carpenter, and a home builder. Beyond his work, he poured his creativity and energy into many passions—he loved to draw and paint, cook, garden, and cheer for his favorite teams. And of course, everyone knew better than to interrupt him while Coronation Street was on.

Calvin will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his love of laughter and teasing, and above all, his devotion to family. There was nothing he wouldn’t do or sacrifice for those he loved.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Sally; his son Pat and wife Kym, with their daughters Ellida and Ciera; and his daughter Joelle and her partner Ken, along with Joelle’s daughters Ava and Raquel. Calvin is also survived by his stepmother Helen, his brother Ken, his sisters Nadine, Carol, Nancy, Karen, and Tamy, and by many nieces and nephews who loved him.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Stensrud Lodge for the care and kindness provided to Cal during his stay.

His life was a gift, his presence a blessing, and his memory will be cherished forever.
