Calvin Gilbert Gessell

It is with great sadness we announce that Calvin Gessell passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, October 20.  Leaving to mourn are his brother Brent (Sharon) and four special nephews, Curt, Clint, LeeJay and Jesse and their families.  Calvin was predeceased by his parents George and Gladys and his brother Greg.

Calvin was born in Delisle and spent his early years on the farm with his family. Calvin was an animal lover. Our farm seemed to be patterned after “Old MacDonald’s” in the early years. Dogs, cats, cattle, horses, pigs, sheep, Bantam chickens, ducks, geese, Calvin had one or more of everything at different times.  Calvin loved hunting and fishing, a ride down a back road in an old truck, a camping trip; you name it he was always up for anything.  Calvin worked at Cosmo Industries for many years, a job he enjoyed going to every day.  We were never too sure how much work he got done, but his stories and laughter kept Cosmo a happy place. Calvin loved his family. He was always so concerned that we were safe, healthy and happy. His easy going ways and great sense of humor drew people to him and he had many friends over the years, all of whom he cherished. We will miss his funny stories and unique sense of humor, but mostly the love he shared with all of us.

A special thank you goes out to Bernadette, his loving and compassionate care giver for the past many years and also his more recent care giver Gina, and also the staff at Cosmo Industries.

Memorial donations may be made to Cosmo Industries in Calvin’s memory.

The funeral service will be held at the Delisle United Church, Friday, October 28th at 2:00 p.m.  Lunch to follow.
