Carey Fredrick Chomyn

April 11, 1960 — November 24, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carey Fredrick William Chomyn, who passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 65, surrounded by family. Carey was born on April 11, 1960, in Saskatoon, the third child of Fred and Elizabeth Chomyn.

He graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1978 and spent the next 30 years working in various sales roles in both real estate and the clothing industry. Carey later became the manager of Apex Adventure Park, a position he embraced wholeheartedly and continued to hold until his passing.

Carey was a devoted father to his two children, Jillian and Chase, and a proud grandfather to his granddaughter, Violet. He always strove to be someone they could rely on—offering steady guidance and thoughtful advice—so they could make well-considered decisions throughout their lives. His unwavering dedication to his family and his genuine desire to help those he loved will be remembered always.

Carey held a deep love for Hawaii. Each year he spent an extended period there, a tradition begun in his childhood and passed on to his own children. The islands became a cherished place for the entire family, filled with memories and lasting friendships. Carey formed a circle of friends in Hawaii, reuniting with them each year and quickly picking up where they had left off the year before. He often said with a smile, “I work in Saskatoon, but I live in Hawaii,” a reflection of the peace he found there.

Carey is survived by his children, Jillian (Derek),Chase (Jasmine) and his granddaughter, Violet as well as his sisters Christine (Randy), Melody and his brother Ron ( Laura) and many cousins, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Elizabeth.

Many thanks to the staff and caregivers at the Royal University Hospital ICU. Their compassion and respect in caring for Carey went above and beyond what anyone could hope for, and it was deeply appreciated by the family during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Canadian Cancer Society.
