Carol Kearnan

Carol Kearnan passed away peacefully with her children by her side on February 1, 2025 at the age of 81 years.

She will be remembered by her children Kent (Tetyana) Kearnan and Kerrie (Johan) Strydom, three grandchildren, Joshua & Makayla Strydom and Dimitri (Shawna) Kachenyuk and great granddaughter Brielle Kachenyuk; sisters Alice Kearnan and Linda (Fred) Milton and brother Fred (Sherri) Gurel as well as numerous relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, James Kearnan, her brother John Gurel, and her parents, Robert and Edith Gurel.

Carol was born February 5, 1943 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. After graduating grade 12, Carol completed her teaching certificate and began teaching at Colonsay.

Carol married James Kearnan in Yorkton on May 6, 1967. She taught several years at Aberdeen school before she and James returned to full-time farming at the Kearnan farm near Delisle. Carol continued to substitute teach at Delisle Elementary School for several years and worked as a teacher/librarian at the Rosetown High School for 2 years. When not teaching, she could be found in her garden, looking after her beloved gladiolas.

Carol was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Saskatoon, serving in various capacities, including Sunday School Teacher and manager of the church library for over 20 years.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, Feb 8, 2025 at First Baptist Church.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 1200-2300 Yonge St, Box 2414, Toronto, ON M4P 1E4.
