Carol Ann Leader

1950 — May 17, 2024

Carol Ann Leader, 74, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2024. Born on March 8, 1950, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Carol's life was marked by her dedication to learning, her career, and her commitment to family.

Carol initially aspired to become an elementary school teacher, yet her career took another path and she became a draftsperson at Hall Engineering for nearly 30 years, working closely with family friend Walter Hall.

Carol was compassionate and dedicated, caring devotedly for her husband, Joseph Leader, through his declining health. She also volunteered at the library in Imperial, Saskatchewan, before relocating to Saskatoon, where they lived for over 35 years.

Her passions included teaching her daughters, crafting, singing, and watching suspense, thrillers, and crime dramas. An avid follower of political news, she held strong views and was a lifelong learner eager to expand her knowledge and share her skills with others. Her wisdom, creativity, selflessness, and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She instilled in her daughters the values of strength, love, and hope.

Carol is survived by her brother Robert Hawkshaw, daughters Jessica Detert and Joelena Leader, sons-in-law Colin Detert and Brian Leader, and her cherished grandson Josef Detert. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Leader.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon. Please meet at the front gates of the cemetery at 12:45.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Palliative Care unit or an animal rescue agency of your choice.

Carol Ann Leader's legacy of love, strength, and compassion will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
