Chas’s roots are from a pioneering family who came to Canada from England in 1903. He grew up learning typical prairie family values, hard work, honesty and integrity. Raised in a home that believed in supporting everyone equally, he embraced socialist values and became a willing volunteer in the community of Lashburn. Chas volunteered for his country and his community, from the RCAF to the Royal Canadian Legion, Wilton Co-op, Lashburn School Board, Farm Management groups, Credit Union and for local political concerns throughout his life. After graduating from LHS he attended U of S in Saskatoon. He returned to Lashburn and for the next 60 years lived and worked on S31,T48, R25, W3.
When asked what his greatest enjoyment in life might be, he replied …“I have never had to rely on anyone, other than myself for my pay check.”
He enjoyed good books and crosswords, fishing in northern lakes and a wee dram of whiskey whenever the Leafs won a game.
We will miss our father but after 100 years of living, he is certainly entitled to a long rest.
Chas is survived by his sister Lou (Wilf), his children Cherry (Barrie), Terry (Shirley), grandchildren Nicole (James), Jason (Lucie), Erin (Mike), Brin, Dylan and great-grandchildren Colin and Kaitlyn, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
