YUEN, Chris Ping Yip
November 4, 1946 - October 13, 2026
Chris passed away peacefully on October 13, 2026, after a six-year battle with lung cancer.
Born in Hong Kong, he moved to Saskatoon in 1975 and joined the Police Force in 1976, proudly serving for 30 years.
Chris met Karen, and they married in 1989. Together, they shared 37 years of marriage and welcomed twin daughters, Kimberly and Jennifer. A devoted husband and father, Chris always put his family first. He showed his love through cooking and hosting family and friends, making sure no one ever left their home hungry.
Sociable and kind, Chris loved meeting people and hearing their stories. He enjoyed singing in his church choir, practicing Tai Chi, watching soccer, studying history, and travelling to experience different cultures. Cruises were his favorite, especially for the warm weather, new friendships, and wonderful food.
Chris was humble, thoughtful, and a loyal friend who cared deeply for others. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Karen, and their daughters Kimberly and Jennifer; son Randolph; brother, Allen (Ina); four other sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law, Wayne, Lloyd (Cindy Lou), and Leonard; and several nieces and nephews. He was especially close to his cousin Abraham (Ellen), their daughters Selene (John) and Felice (Jon) and their families. He was predeceased by his parents and four brothers.
The family sincerely thanks their family, friends, neighbours, co-workers, home care nurses, Cancer Clinic staff, and especially Dr. Manna and the other oncologists for their kindness and compassionate care. We are blessed to have had all of you in our lives.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday October 21, 2026, at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 217 Lenore Drive, Saskatoon. The service will be livestreamed via a link at the top of this page for those unable to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saskatoon Cancer Clinic, Palliative Care at St. Paul's Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
