Darline McAulay was born on the Hogue homestead at Saltburn near Sanctuary on October 20, 1924 to Margaret and Percy Hogue. Mom passed on April 3, 2024 in her 100th year, surrounded by the love of family and friends at her home at Primrose Chateau.

Mom received her schooling at Saltburn and Sanctuary schools, then attended Normal School at Moose Jaw. She taught school at Lucky Lake, White Bear and Milan, where she met Dad and they married on July 3, 1946. They farmed the land that Dad’s father homesteaded in 1909; Mom was proud to receive the Century Family Farm Award in 2009. Mom was an active member of Alford Community Club, Forgan United Church and Sterling Rebekah Lodge in Wiseton. Mom and Dad started going to Christopher Lake in 1950 and she loved her time spent at the cabin through the years. Upon moving to Saskatoon, she continued being involved in the United Church and in volunteer work. She was a member of the Blue Jays Fan Club and took several trips to Minneapolis to watch her team play. Of course, she was also a Rider fan and wore the green and white proudly. She was a huge fan of curling and in her final weeks cheered the Canadian women on to Gold at the World Women’s Curling Championship.

Predeceased by her husband Wilfred, daughters Margaret and Carson, son Donald, brothers Harold, Llewellyn (Bud) and Gordon Hogue. Survived by daughter Kathy Weber (Jim) and their children Jennifer (Jeff and grandchildren Jacob and Oliver) and James, daughter Joan McAulay (Doug Doughty) and brother Wayne Hogue. Also survived by special friends Ray & Cathy Hoenecke, Val Graham, Erin O’Neil, many extended family members and all those who adopted her as Grandma DD throughout the years. And for anyone who knew Darline, you know that she’ll be missed by her furry grandbabies Bella, Catriona, Morag and Callum.

Thanks to all the staff and Mom’s friends at Primrose Chateau and to Golden Home Wellness.

We’ll always remember Mom as being a role model for her quiet strength, compassion and kindness. As one of her neighbours said recently “The world needs more Darline McAulays”.

In remembrance of Darline's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Prairie Hospice Society Inc. 506 25th Street East #302, Saskatoon SK  S7K 4A7 prairiehospice.org/donate or a charity of your choice.

Private interment will be held at Holt-Mosten Cemetery near Wiseton. Friends and family are invited to Mom’s memorial service on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Saskatoon Funeral Home, 338 4th Avenue N. Saskatoon.
