David Cook’s family are sad to announce his passing at Royal University Hospital in the early hours of February 9, 2026.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Louise (née Goota); his son Cameron Cook (Michelle Davio) and grandson Riley of Ardrossan, Alberta; and his daughter Lesley Walters and grandson Hudson of Saskatoon.
Born in Moose Jaw to Edward and Marion Cook, David grew up sporting with his father and uncle, raising retrievers and pursuing his interest in radio, music and automobiles.
David began his career with Bowman Brothers in 1965 and remained with the company through its transition to Acklands Grainger, retiring in 2000. He later worked part-time as a manufacturers’ agent and in supply chain for Volkswagen and Acura.
An enthusiastic birdwatcher and fly fisherman, David was an active member of Nature Saskatchewan and Nature Saskatoon, and a volunteer with the Western Development Museum. He had a lifelong fascination with technology, radio communications, optics, cartography, and finely made machinery. He was particularly proud of his post-war Willys Jeeps, his inaugural model Acura Legend, and his 1975 Scout, which saw many trips into wild places.
Diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2023,he met the challenge with determination, remaining active in movement classes and connecting with others in the Parkinson’s community.
In keeping with his wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
