David James Sikler

On September 11th, our beautiful Dad and Papa left this life for the next. He was surrounded in the loving arms of his three children, his eldest grandson and family by his side.

Dad was a man full of kindness, love, compassion, strength and loyalty. He was incredibly creative and never afraid to pave his own way, following the many adventures and paths he chose throughout his life.

Dad was also an extremely talented carpenter. He has built many beautiful spaces over the years. When looking around our homes, Dad’s creative work is everywhere. His hardworking hands, creativity and talent took part in many projects throughout his life. He poured his love into the projects he worked on. And if you were lucky enough to build with him, it was the most fun you'd ever have at work!

We are proud of the courage he had to take risks, try new things and to build the community he did in recent years. Dad was a people person and knew how to build connections with everyone he met.

He lived life to the fullest and in his own way.

Dad taught us all to live in colour!

He filled our childhood with joy, adventure, laughter, and wonder. He taught us to see the magic in ordinary days, to chase adventure, dream big, and never be afraid to carve our own path.

When we look back on our childhood, we realize just how much he gave us - not things, but moments. Memories that live deep within us and will stay there forever. The kind of childhood, now more than ever, we understand was a true gift.

He made life feel bigger, brighter, and more beautiful, simply by being our Dad.

No matter how old we grow, a part of us will always be those three kids looking up at our Dad. He was the strongest guy we knew. Whether it was winning any arm wrestle he came across, or carrying an unbelievable amount of lumber on his own. He was undoubtedly, our hero. We believed he could do anything and knew, without a doubt, that we were unconditionally loved.

We were, and always will be, the luckiest kids in the world to have him as our Dad and Papa.

Dad was a role model to many. The love and kindness he gave throughout his life will be a lasting legacy for everyone who knew him, but especially in his children and grandchildren.

Dave was predeceased by his loving father, Joseph Sikler, in 2012.

He leaves behind his beloved mother, Patricia Sikler, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond.

His beautiful legacy will forever live on in the hearts of his three children and 11 grandchildren:

Daughter Kennedy (Scott) and children Hudson, Monroe, Kiefer, Phoenix, Vaeda and Holland;

Daughter Carson (Jason) and children Fletcher, Noah and Sullivan;

Son Harrison (Delayna) and children Genevieve and Parker.

Dave also leaves behind his friend of 20 years, Teri Wiwchar; the mother of his girls and friend, Dorothy Murphy; his siblings Leslie, Bob, Laurie and Patti; and many special family members and friends from all stages of Dad’s life.

Dad was so deeply loved, and we will miss his physical presence here with us. We are comforted now in the many signs we are receiving, that is undeniably our Dad, letting us know he is always with us.

There will be a private celebration of life for our Pops, one in which he'd absolutely approve!
