David William White

July 14, 1945 - November 12,2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David William White. He will be deeply missed by his spouse and best friend for 53 years, Joanne Beckett. He was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Laverne White. Dave is survived by his sisters, Lois and Danna (Mark), his brother Jack (Marge), brother-in-law John (Kathy), sister-in-laws Sherril Beckett and Marilyn Beckett, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Dave was born in Halbrite on July 14, 1945 and passed away in Saskatoon on Nov.12, 2025. Halbrite was a small town in southern Saskatchewan where he was free to explore and develop his lifelong interest in the insects, plants and birds of the province.

After high school in Weyburn, Dave moved to Saskatoon where he obtained a welder's ticket at Kelsey Institute. After a short time as a welder he joined the Labourers' Union where he worked on projects such as the Veterinary Medicine Building, Centre Mall, Luther Tower, and Sturdy Stone Centre, as well as many smaller projects. With the demise of the Labourers' Union, Dave joined a group building well-insulated homes. He then worked on small projects where he enjoyed meeting his clients, always taking his portable radio to listen to CBC while he worked. He was a life-long supporter of CBC for accurate news reports and music from Canadian artists,

From the time he moved to the city Dave always spent time helping seniors, whether it was the elderly neighbour across the street, an ailing aunt, or disabled father-in-law, Dave was always there to change light bulbs, take over a jar of homemade soup or provide a trip to the doctor.

Dave's interests were many and varied: baking multi-grain bread from his own recipe, growing citrus trees from seed, collecting antiques, hats and tools, as well as strange and wonderful objects, marvellous mechanical devices that struck his fancy, and Balvenie Scotch. Friends appreciated Dave for his knowledge of fantastic facts and being up for a good argument. He enjoyed his trips in Canada and abroad with Joanne.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, November 15, at Woodlawn Cemetery.
