Del played his last crib game Friday afternoon. He passed peacefully in his sleep in the wee hours of Saturday June 22 nd , 2024.
He was born July 11, 1935, if you do the math he was predeceased by many who went before him, including his wife Gail in 2007. He leaves behind a large extended family plus his four children: Roxanne (Gary), Lionel (Joni), Trevor (Diana), Heather (Dax), his four grandchildren: Amara, Dakota (Janelle), Cameron, & Kyra, and his only great granddaughter Lena.
Del had a love of family, friends and the outdoors. Del loved nothing more than a visit and the coffeepot was always on. He was a plumber most of his adult life and continued to work into his 60’s and 70’s. He worked in Saskatoon his entire career and as a result he knew many people and always bumped into someone he knew. Del loved nothing more than to fish, and many hours were spent camping or fishing at one of Saskatchewan’s northern lakes. According to Del the fish tasted better from the northern lakes.
A huge thank you to everyone who aided Del these last few years as Del’s independence and mobility decreased. It was a huge adjustment for all when Del moved to long term care. A huge thank you to Sherbrooke Community Care Home in helping with this transition, especially his team in Kinsmen Village. The music, coffee and crib crew all made Del’s daily life brighter.
Memorial donations in Del's memory may be made to www.sherbrookefoundation.ca or to a chairy of one's choice.
Please join us in celebrating Del’s life: Friday June 28 th , 2024 at 10:30am at Holy Family Cathedral, 123 Nelson Rd.
