Delores Burkart

Delores Burkart, age 74, of Saskatoon, passed away at home on May 19, 2026 after a short courageous battle with cancer. She was born, raised and educated in Saskatoon attending St. Mary's elementary school, Sion and E.D. Feehan high schools and the University of Saskatchewan.

Delores cared deeply and passionately about the people she loved. She is survived by the love of her life, Jack Vaisanen, her sister Janice Snyder (Gary) and brother Bob, as well as numerous nephews and nieces who were all dear to her heart.

Throughout her career in public relations, Delores worked with a wide array of clients from the smallest community organization to the major boardrooms in the province, such as Sask Power, SaskTel,and SIGA.

Delores and Jack lived in the same house in Saskatoon for over 40 years, tending an organic garden each of those years and always growing too much to the benefit of their neighbors. They were an inseparable couple from the moment they met over 50 years ago. They were avid birders and nature lovers.

Delores had a strong social conscience and wanted to give back to her community. She had a long history of community involvement and volunteerism working with groups such as the Canadian Red Cross, United Way, Canadian Institute of International Affairs, Canadian Club and many other organizations who served our community needs.

In the final weeks of her fight with cancer, Jack and her sister Janice did not leave her side, assisting in 24 hour Palliative care, so she could stay at home through her last days.

We wish to thank Palliative Home Care Saskatoon for their assistance in making it possible for Delores to remain home for her last days.

No funeral service will be held as per Delores wishes. In memory of Delores we ask that you plant a tree, pull a weed, and listen to the sweet sounds of nature.
