Deo Dyal, aged 72, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on July 8th surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born February 23rd, 1951, in Trinidad & Tobago, to parents Basmatia and Dyal Ramlogan.
After completing high school in his hometown of Princess Town, Victoria, T&T Deo set his sights on Canada. Upon arrival in Calgary, he continued his education at James Fowler School followed by attending SAIT to become a Journeyman Welder. Through School and Church he found a loving community, notably making a dear friend in Terry Ohlhauser. Other notable pillars in his life were Darcy (Sue) and the Heinzig Family.
While in Calgary a lifelong passion for American muscle cars was established.
In 1976, Deo fell in love with Saskatoon during a casual visit with his friend Cal Schultz, and decided to stay. Shortly after, destiny would bring him face to face with the love of his life, Dianne. The serendipitous encounter occurred one fateful evening at a social event. They married in 1981 and never looked back.
He landed a job with the City of Saskatoon as a Welder in 1987. His dedication and commitment were unwavering as he faithfully served the city for an impressive 32 years. Throughout this time, he nurtured his love for higher education and successfully earned a certificate in Labour Studies from the U of S in 2001. Additionally, Deo championed the labour rights of his peers by actively serving his local CUPE chapter.
His love for muscle cars and the car community was always his passion. His family and friends will remember the long hours in the garage rebuilding and restoring cars, many car shows, smoking tires in the A&W parking lot and cruising down 8th Street. He took great pride in his cars and made sure they were always show-ready.
