Donald Miller

d. June 15, 2017

Donald Lee Miller 1948 - 2017 The family of Donald Lee Miller sadly announces his passing on June 15, 2017 after a lengthy struggle with lung cancer. Don was born on April 19, 1948, the oldest child of Jack and Ruby Miller, née Smith. He was predeceased by his parents; his grandparents, Allan and Annabelle Miller and Lindsay and Annie Smith, cousin Margaret Chastakoff, née Smith and by his spouse, Olive Kavanagh, née Kletzel. He is survived by his siblings and their families, David (Marilyn), Muriel (Barry Hodge), and Gary; nephew Jordan Gasior (Ang), niece Adrienne Gasior (Xavier Pilon) and great niece Yarrow Gasior. He is remembered by Olive's children Derek (Sheri), and Tammy Van Meesen (Jake) and their families, grandsons Devon, Dayten, (Kayla) and Daniel Van Meesen, Jack Kavanagh, granddaughter Shayna Kavanagh, and great grandchildren Carter, Connor and Hayden. He is also remembered by his cousins and their families: the Miller cousins Gerry (Barb), Arlene (Ken Wuschke), Howard (Yvonne Peters), Christine (Brian McAreavey), and Jim (Bonnie Reid) and Smith cousin Gwen (Wayne Wylie) and cousin-in-law Ron Chastakoff. Don will be remembered by his extended family and a wide circle of friends. Don grew up on the family farm in the Feudal area. He attended school in Harris, Leney and Perdue. He was part of Catherwood 4-H Calf Club and participated in high school drama productions. For many years he worked in the trucking industry where he drove auto carriers. He loved riding his horse, Smokey, working on old cars and listening to country music. He was a member of the Steam Engine Club at The Western Development Museum. He enjoyed socializing with his many long-time friends. He will be remembered for his quick wit and dry sense of humour. He was a hard-working guy with a big heart, always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He enjoyed his role as Grandpa Don and cherished the time he spent with the young ones: he remained a kid at heart his whole life.
