With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Doreen Marie Brakefield, on June 23, 2026, after a sudden stroke.
Doreen lived a full and active life, finding joy in the simple moments-long coffee visits with her many friends, warm conversations, and time spent with those she loved. She valued her independence and took pride in caring for her health, staying active and committed to her daily exercise and routines over the years.
She was a strong and determined woman who worked hard throughout her life, quietly building a sense of security and comfort that she deeply valued.
Above all, family was everything to her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Leslie Brakefield and Lisa Adamo (Bill), her six grandchildren, and her cherished great-grandchild, Prudence. Her weekly visits with Prudence in recent years were especially dear to her and brought her so much happiness.
She was predeceased by her son, Kevin, her parents, and her brother Bert.
We are so grateful to the doctors, nurses, and care aides who supported her with such kindness and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul's Hospital are appreciated.
Per mom's wishes, there will not be a funeral service. We plan to have a get together this fall with friends and family, to share memories, stories, and the love she left with all of us.
