It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Doreen Hickie, 88, of Saskatoon, SK, who was born into eternal life on Monday, December 30, 2024, at St. Ann's Home. She was surrounded by loved ones at the time of her passing.
Doreen was born on March 6, 1936, in Saskatoon, SK. Doreen was the beloved daughter of Raymond and Matilda Wolfe and a devoted sister to Carole. Doreen was a graduate of City Park Collegiate and St. Paul's Hospital School of Nursing in Saskatoon. She was married to Robert for 63 years, and together they raised Dave, Paul, Colleen and Mark. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering strength.
Doreen worked as a nurse at St. Paul's Hospital and the Saskatoon Cancer Centre and was known by colleagues, patients and families for her dedication, compassion, and work ethic. Outside of her career, she was passionate about her faith. She was a faithful parishioner of Holy Spirit where she also served for many years as a volunteer in various capacities in addition to being a member of the 10 o'clock choir. She enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing tennis and cheered for the Huskies, Riders and the Blue Jays. She loved to read and enjoyed reminiscing with her photo albums of family and friends.
Her love for her family and friends was boundless. She was a nurturing presence, always ready with a listening ear, comforting words, or a helping hand. Her sense of humor and contagious smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Our mom, Doreen, will be forever loved, remembered, and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace.
