EARLE LEWIS JOHNSTON
June 2, 1927  -  August 16, 2018

It is with heavy hearts we  announce the passing of our father, Earle Lewis Johnston on August 16, 2018 at his residence in Diamond House in Warman.  Dad was born in Watrous, Saskatchewan on the 2nd of June, 1927. Dad’s father’s job as a grain buyer took the family to several communities before finally settling in North Battleford in 1944. After completing high school in 1945, Dad put off plans to attend University in order to help his father,  who had lost workers to WWII. Dad’s many careers included Fuel truck driver, Salesperson and Zone Manager for International Harvester, co-owner of a gas and service station, welder and iron worker, and laundromat owner and operator. It was at International Harvester that Dad met our Mom, Rita in 1951. They married in 1954. This union produced 7 children  over a span of 11 years.

In 1993, Dad married again to Debbie McKnight, and they enjoyed many years of Alaskan Cruises and travelling Western Canada in their 5th wheel, as well as hobbies such as woodworking and gardening.
Dad was predeceased by his parents Evy and Jack Johnston, sister Jacqueline Smith, his wife Debbie, son in law Akos Elek and grandson Cameron Griffiths.

Earle is survived by his 7 children, Barb (Jamie) Dick, Jan (Gerry) Griffiths, Robert Johnston, Mike (Bonnie) Johnston, Jody (Rod) Dumanski, Bev (Russ) Thomas, Sandy (Brent) Litvenenko, 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, as well as his sister Dorothy (Lloyd) Friedrick and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank Diamond House Care Home in Warman, SK where dad resided for the past 17 months. Their care and love for Dad was exceptional and we couldn’t be more grateful.

A Life Celebration Service will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Diamond House (700 Ballesteros Cres. Warman SK).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Diamond House in Warman, SK. or Ronald McDonald House in Saskatoon.
