Edith Van Der Velden (nee: Smith) passed away on December 31, 2025 at Oliver Lodge in Saskatoon. Mom was 84.
She is survived by George Neufeld (spouse), daughter Gale (Larry) Unrau, grandson Jason (Amber) Unrau, great grandkids: Hannah, Zachary, Everly.
Granddaughter: Shannon (Roy) Pambrun; Great grandkids Kailey, Dylan
Daughter Cheryl Van Der Velden (Randy Unrau). Granddaughter Cherylee: Great granddaughter: Andrea (James) Kristjanson. Great great Grandkids: Ellie, Jackson.
Edith was born in Rosthern, SK. on December 5, 1941. She was raised in Waldheim SK by her parents Walter and Tena Smith. She had 4 brothers: Norman, Fred, Eldon and Wes. All deceased.
She married John Van Der Velden and had her two daughters. They were later divorced. She was working at Smitty's in Mid Town Plaza around this time. She also worked at the Army and Navy Department Store from when it opened until its closing after which she retired. During this time she and George Neufeld met and remained together until her passing. They spent over 40 years travelling and camping, enjoying family gatherings and going for drives.
One of her favorite things was spending time with her Army and Navy friends. They would visit each other at holidays and birthdays. She also enjoyed spending time with her childhood girlfriends, shopping and going for lunches.
