Edward "Ted" Elliot Hughes Easton

Ted was born on October 24, 1933 in Plymouth, England, to his parents, Edward (Ted) and Alison Easton. He is the younger brother to John (Diana) Easton. Ted graduated as a Mining Engineer, worked in Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia, Africa) then moved to Canada in 1957. Ted was later baptized into the Catholic faith.

Ted had a full career, working in uranium, nickel, gold and potash mines where he also participated in first aid and on mine rescue teams.

Ted joined Falconbridge Nickel Mines, Sudbury Ontario, in 1961 where he met, then married Elaine Morris, having three children, Darren, Allison and Kevin. Ted married into Elaine's large (11 siblings) and welcoming family, offering and receiving their love for 63 years.

Ted embraced his new family and life in Canada. He enjoyed playing cards, darts and other games, snow shoeing, cross country and down hill skiing, curling, canoeing, camping, fishing and hiking. Ted was an avid reader, a beautiful photographer, and found joy through singing and in classical music. He instilled his love and respect for nature and these activities in his children.

At Christ the King Church in Sudbury and after moving to Saskatoon in 1978, at Holy Spirit Parish, Ted was a lector, was ever present to complete bulletin's and participated on parish council, ecumenical committee, building committee, the board of St. Anne's home amongst others.

Those knowing Ted recall with ease his humour and warm, welcoming, beautiful smile. He is remembered as a genuine, caring, kind, and loving gentleman.

Ted passed away peacefully during his sleep at home on September 23, 2026. He is cherished by his loving wife, Elaine, children Darren and Allison (Kevin Hay), grandchildren, numerous brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews, friends and fellow parishioners.

Ted was predeceased by his son, Kevin, his parents Edward (Ted) and Alison and his brother, John Easton.

The family would like to thank David Polzen, Saskatoon Funeral Home, and Kelly Wormbecker, Holy Spirit Parish, for their compassion and faith during this difficult time.

Ted was a man of deep faith. His parting words to his family and to others was most often "God bless you". He meant that. God blessed us, in allowing us all to share in his beautiful life.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Ted will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 10:30 am from Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Parish, 114 Kingsmere Place, Saskatoon. The Cremation Rite of Committal will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Saskatoon, SK.
