Elizabeth Kokotailo (ne e Saretzky) passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025 at the age of 100. She is survived by her children Richard (Sheila), Bill (Joan), Irene (Carl), Raymond (Sharon) and Dale (Michelle), her grand children Brett, Jerilynn (Dorie), Jamie, Michael, Jessica, Ashley, Katie, Mitchell, Jennifer and Caelan, and her great grand children Maxim, Bella, Kobe, Tatum, Aria, Elyse, Asher and Archer, her brother Dominick (Tina) and her brother-in-law George. She was predeceased by her parents John and Helen (Loroff) Saretzky, her husband Walter, her daughter Barbara and her siblings Albert, Minnie, Margaret, Jim, Berneice and Verna.
Elizabeth was born May 14, 1925 in Viscount, SK. She attended Auckland school and took correspondence in grade 9 and 10. She grew up on the family farm with her siblings and loved doing her outdoor chores around the farm. Elizabeth loved her horses and had fond memories of driving her and her siblings to school in a one horse open sleigh on cold winter days. The family attended church every Sunday and on days where there was no mass they would walk 2 to 4 miles for a game of ball. Years later Elizabeth was instrumental in getting girl's ball going in Saskatoon. Elizabeth met her husband Walter in Meacham, SK. Walter became a teacher and Elizabeth worked alongside him as a teacher's aid and helped out with physical education and music. They married on July 29, 1947 and raised 6 children together. They were married for 51 years until Walter's passing in 1998. Elizabeth and Walter lived in many places around Saskatchewan and eventually built their family home in 1965 in Saskatoon in Montgomery. Elizabeth lived in this house over 50 years until she moved into the Villa Royale in 2017.
Elizabeth had many passions, including gardening, canning, cooking, baking and ball, but her greatest passion was her grandchildren. Elizabeth spent a lot of time watching sporting events, playing cards and enjoying the company of her 10 grand children and 8 great grand children. She was grateful for the extensive travelling she got to do with her family over the years and loved spending time at the lake in the summer.
Elizabeth was a dedicated volunteer and proud member of the Catholic Women's League (CWL) for over 60 years. She volunteered at the clothing depot well into her nineties and was an active member of the St. John Bosco parish and continued to sing in the church choir until her passing. Elizabeth loved her family dearly and enjoyed hosting family events and Christmases at her home in Montgomery until she moved to the Villa Royale. For 8 years, Elizabeth loved her time at the Villa Royale, whether she was taking in a card game, bowling or playing bingo, enjoying entertainment in the dining room or simply visiting and enjoying a meal with the other residents. The Kokotailo family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at the Villa Royale for taking such good care of Elizabeth. We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Elizabeth's special friends Peter and Irene Laroque.
