Elmer Schumacher

Elmer Schumacher In the early morning hours of Sunday, December 24, Elmer Schumacher passed away peacefully.Elmer was born May 29, 1929. His parents were Jacob and Erna Schumacher and Elmer was the oldest of four children: Leigh, Eugene and Herb. Elmer grew up in Young, Saskatchewan, and then moved to Saskatoon as an adult. Elmer met Ruth Fullerton there, and in 1954, they were married. They had one child: David. As young man, Elmer worked for CN Railway and then later became a driver education instructor for the Saskatoon Public Board of Education. Elmer enjoyed working with his hands and was an active member of the Woodworkers Guild in Saskatoon. He also enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to the Saskatoon Bridge Club. Elmer was a longstanding member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He believed with a certainty borne on the wings of faith, that when he died, Jesus would come and take him home to heaven.
