Ernest Rode

Ernie left us the way we remember him best – fighting cancer to the end without ever losing the playful smirk on his face. It is how he lived his life: growing up on a farm in the Jansen area; enjoying his time with family and friends golfing, curling, fishing or gardening; and through more than four decades in the grocery business, first with Capital Foods and ending with Federated Co-op.

Ernie was loved and will be missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Gail Brown; siblings Norma Winter, Marlene (Albert) Roth, Verna Jean (William) Samborski, Marion (Cameron) Hall, Larry (Claudette) Rode, Glenna (Robert) Brown; in-laws Paul Gniewotta and Norma Facca; children Kimberley (Dawn) Rode and Karean Haaland and four grandchildren; and a large extended family. Ernie was predeceased by his siblings Gladys Gniewotta, Elaine (Gordon) Greve.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Saskatoon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Palliative Home Care Services through the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation.
