Eugene will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sheila Purcell, daughter Stacy Purcell, son Chris Purcell (Lisa), granddaughter Kennedy; brothers Murray (Laura), Wally (Sue), Dwight (Michelle), brothers and sisters-in-law Shirley Whiteside (Steve), Sharon Wenner (Mark), Nick Praharenka (Karen), numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Clyde and Elaine Purcell, his mother and father-in-law Marj and Nick Praharenka, and sister-in-law Dawn Purcell. Eugene was born in Dinsmore, SK and moved to Pike Lake in 1954 to the family farm where he was raised. His early school years were in Pike Lake, and he went on to Delisle Composite High School where he was an avid basketball and fastball player. He attended the University of Saskatchewan, worked at the potash mine, and succeeded in a career of financing, and at the time of his passing was the International Program Manager for DLL Financial Services, as well as farming with Chris. Eugene was very active in his kids’ sports; he assisted in coaching Stacy’s ringette and Chris’ fastball. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He enjoyed playing backgammon with Sheila every morning. Always being fond of the outdoors, Eugene recently discovered a new interest, bow hunting, which he shared with his nephew Scotty. Eugene and Stacy had a common love of the water, often scuba diving together on holidays. Eugene’s passion, which he shared with Chris, was their farm. He loved working the land and all it offered. Eugene loved his family and friends beyond words. He was everyone’s favorite – the favorite uncle, favorite cousin, and favorite brother. His outgoing personality, sense of humour, and the way he could tell a story were unforgettable. His favorite times were spent on the golf course with friends, his annual father’s day fishing trips and his love of travel that he shared with Sheila, Stacy, Chris and Lisa. His granddaughter Kennedy stole his heart and it showed with the twinkle in his eyes that lit up every time he saw her. In lieu of flowers, Eugene’s family would like donations to go to the Pike Lake Community Association (PLCSA, Site 708 Box 60 RR7, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 1N2)
