Fern Elaine Schmidt

It is with great sadness that the family of Fern Elaine Schmidt announces her passing on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at the age of 89. Fern was born on April 6, 1937 to Harry and Ethel Stevenson on the family farm near Perdue, Saskatchewan. She attended Business College in 1955 in Saskatoon where she met Leo Schmidt. Leo and Fern were married on June 28, 1957 in Saskatoon. They raised their two children, Garry and Barbara in the house they built in 1959. She was a member of the ANAVETS Unit #38 for 44 years where she was active in the Friday Night meat draws and participated in the Ladies Pool and the Mixed Dart leagues. As a senior, she and Leo were involved in the Saskatchewan Seniors 55+ Darts.

Fern is survived by her children, Garry and Barbara. She is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Leo Schmidt; her parents, Harry and Ethel Stevenson; her brother, Eldon Stevenson; and her son-in-law, Robert Trotchie. As per Fern's wishes, there will be no funeral service. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
