Florence "Flo" Healey

Florence (Flo) Healey passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026, at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, following a short illness. She was born on a homestead near Mikado, Saskatchewan on December 1, 1929, to Walter and Rose Chaban. 

In 1945, at the age of 15, Flo completed her Grade 12 in Buchanan, Saskatchewan. Four years later, she graduated with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan. That same year, Flo accepted a teaching position in Wynyard, Saskatchewan, where she met her husband, Gerald. They married in 1952, and in 1956, they welcomed their twin daughters, Susan and Karen. Flo's teaching career was spent at the Wynyard Composite High School. Although she taught a variety of subjects, her passion was teaching Home Economics and French.

Following retirement, Flo and Gerald moved to Saskatoon. Flo was involved in the Newcomers Club and the Superannuated Teachers of Saskatchewan. She enjoyed playing bridge and supporting the arts, attending performances at Persephone Theatre, concerts by the Saskatoon Symphony, and events hosted by the Saskatoon Jazz Society. A gifted knitter and seamstress, Flo took great pride in creating beautiful pieces for family and friends. She was an enthusiastic and curious traveller, who loved exploring the world on cruises, bus trips, and organized tours.

Florence was predeceased by her husband, Gerald, her parents, Walter and Rose Chaban, and her sister, Stella Corrigal.

A family celebration of life was held on September 16, 2026, at the Saskatoon Funeral Home.
