Frank Vangool
March 8, 1944 - August 22, 2024
On August 22, 2024, Frank Vangool, aged 80, of the RM of Vanscoy, Saskatchewan, peacefully passed away, surrounded by his loving family. He has gone to be with Jesus and reunited with his beloved daughter, Ashlee Pashovitz; grandson, Andrew; and his parents, Jules (Opi) and Lucie (Omi) Vangool.
Frank is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Beverley, and his cherished children: Brian - grandchildren AJ and Derek; Greg (Jenise) - grandchildren Justin, Brooke, and Ashton; Vanessa (Rob) McKellep - grandchildren Victoria, Kaitlynne, and Matthew; Jennifer (Gary) Pashovitz - grandchildren Taylor, Brennon, Braydon, Alanna, and Alexandra. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Mark Pashovitz, and grandson Jax, along with one great-grandson, Andrew.
Frank was born in Kalmthout, Belgium, on March 8, 1944. In 1964, he immigrated to Canada with his parents and ten siblings (Marianne, Christiane, Luc, William, Betty, Bernadette, Brigitte, Michael, Tom, and Sabine). Each passenger was allowed one large crate for the journey, symbolizing the new life they were about to build.
Frank and Bev married in Saskatoon in 1967 and soon began their family. Frank was well-known for his mechanical expertise, first establishing a successful business as a mechanic and later finishing his career at Agrium Mine. He and his brothers were renowned for their ability to fix just about anything. His passion for racing, which began in Europe, continued in Saskatoon, where he proudly held the title of the oldest racing club member in the city. His son and grandson later joined him in this beloved pastime. In retirement, besides occasional travels south, he continued fixing cars to keep himself occupied, finalizing his last car sale from his hospital bed.
Frank was a trusted friend, devoted husband, and beloved father and grandfather. He faced life's challenges with a calm demeanor, often responding with his characteristic phrase, "Oh well!" Even in his final weeks battling cancer, Frank maintained his sense of humor, offering playful remarks to nurses and visitors alike. His family was his greatest joy, and he will be deeply missed and forever loved.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Paul's Palliative Care Unit and to everyone who prayed for, supported, and loved Frank. His life was a testament to the unconditional love he had for his family and friends.
A celebration of Frank's life will be held on Monday, September 23rd, at 1:30 pm at Delisle Community Chapel, followed by a lunch at the Delisle Senior Centre.
