Gerard Alan Leibel

1939 — January 15, 2022

Gerard (Gary) Alan Leibel passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Porteous Lodge in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Gary was born on March 2, 1939 to George and Ann Leibel in Myrnam, Alberta.

Gary married Shirley Sheppard on February 20, 1963 and together they raised four children: Kim (Leslie), Mark (Sandy), Nicole (Jon) and Terry (Melinda). He had two brothers (Brian and Richard) and three sisters (Nicki, Kathy and Joan).

Gary is survived by his wife of 58 years, his four children, 14 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother Brian.

Gary was a sweet, kind, patient and hardworking man. He enjoyed all sports but he especially loved curling.

Gary worked as an Instrument Technician at the Allan Potash mine. During the summer he loved to spend time out at Cochin, Saskatchewan, having a beer or two and watching his Toronto Blue Jays. Gary was good with his hands and could always be found fixing and maintaining things. One of his passions was lawn care and he excelled at making his lawn green and lush.

Gary was endlessly positive and loved sharing jokes and being “goofy”. He was always baking, cooking meals and enjoyed being with his family.

Gary will be missed tremendously by all who loved him.

A private family service will be held on January 20, 2022 with a celebration of his life to be held in the summer.
