Glenn Ross

December 22, 1956 — June 12, 2025

Glenn Ross passed away suddenly in St. Paul's Hospital on June 12th, 2025. Glenn was born on December 22, 1956, in Saskatoon.

He worked in his youth in the Navy Reserves, then at the Army and Navy department store, and finally at the University of Saskatchewan. Glenn rose through the ranks in CUPE Local 1975 and became President of the union for many years. During this time, he also received a certificate in Business Administration.

Glenn came from little and achieved so much.

Glenn was a MASSIVE Chicago Cubs fan. Due to his fear of flying, he could never fly to Chicago to see his beloved Cubbies. So instead, he and family friend David Reid drove from Saskatoon to Chicago, stopping at Green Bay Field (Glenn was also a Packers fan) along the way.

Watching the Cubs live at Wrigley Field may have been the highlight of his life, or perhaps in 2016, when the Chicago Cubs broke the 108-year-old curse and won the World Series. But likely, his highlights were the many times he helped out nieces and nephews in everything from starting their car to spotting them a $20.

Glenn was simply a great guy with the best sense of humour. His hobbies included going to look at the Christmas lights during the daytime (so there weren't any lineups), watching Planes, Trains and Automobiles on American Thanksgiving, and pranking friends and family alike with the stupidest yet most effective jokes. His passion for the Rolling Stones and Cousin Eddie from Vacation were also more than memorable. And by God, did Glenn love a good parade.

Glenn was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Jessie Ross, and by his siblings Donnie, Caroline, Margaret, and brother-in-law Greg. He is survived by his siblings Andrea, Donna (Perry), Gail, Glenda, Ken, Heather, Connie (Mick), Beverly, as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews, in addition to many relatives in Scotland.

Glenn, in his will, also wrote: "He leaves behind many friends, you know who you are. Stay forever young."

At Glenn's request, there will be no funeral. But there is nothing in his will to say we should not have a celebration of life. This will take place in late August in Saskatoon. For details, please email Rob Ferguson at robertpercival01974@gmail.com or text or call 604-841-9421.

A very special thanks to Dr. David Reid for being the best friend to Glenn that anyone could ever ask for.

"Game Called. Upon the field of the darkness gathers far and wide. The dream is done. The score is spun that stands forever in the guide. Nor victory, nor yet defeat is chalked against the player's name. But down the roll, the final scroll, shows only how he played the game."

June 12th, 2025: we lost our brother, uncle, and friend.

In Glenn's honour, the Chicago Cubs made sure to hold off the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-2.

Go Cubs!!

See you in August.
