It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon William May. Born in Saskatoon to Bill and Eileen May, Gordon was predeceased by his mother Eileen, his father Bill (James), his brother Tom his sister Constance and his step-brother Robert.
Gord met his wonderful wife Liana Watt during high school in Saskatoon and they have been married for 47 years. They were extremely excited when they found out they were going to be parents and have two beautiful sons. Kaurie came first and was followed by Jesse 2 years later. Gord graduated from Business College in the late 70's and immediately started used his accounting skills in the home-construction industry. The following decade Gord and Liana purchased Tidy Diaper Services together and operated it for 10 years before selling it to spend more time with their kids. Following that he spent 9 years using his gift for gab as a salesperson for Western Gaming Systems before transitioning back into the construction industry an estimator, then accountant, then senior project manager until his retirement in 2018. Gord loved bowling, golfing, fishing, summers at his seasonal trailer at the lake, and spending time with the many long-term friends he established through baseball. His all-time favorite holidays were spent at Paint Lake, Manitoba. He first stayed at Gary and Shelley's cabin where he received the affectionate nick-name "Buttons", followed by Cheryl and Paul's (his favorite fishing buddy) where many, many hours were spent fishing, napping, and watching movies. Gord's absolute passion and great pride were his two sons Kaurie and Jesse - he loved coaching them in baseball and hockey where he so enjoyed every moment.
He leaves behind Liana, his wife of 47 years, his sons Kaurie (Kynthia) and Jesse (Elizabeth), his sister Barb (Jeff) and their children Charlene, Micheal, Jennifer, and Dave, his sister-in-law Denise (Lyle) and his sweet nieces Mindy and Stacey whom he adored.
Very special thanks to Dr. Schwann, Dr. Devilliers, Dr. Stuart. Dr. Olszynski, Lois, Nathialie, Charlene, and Jennifer who took great care of him and very much became part of our family, as well as the many, many nurses that helped Gord over the years. Another special thank you to Keith who spent many hours on construction projects making Gord and Liana's life easier and safer and Mark for chatting Roughrider strategy with Gord. As well, thank you to my sister Donna and Sunali for making him smile every day and taking such loving care of him so he could be at home for the past four years.
