Grant Mickelson
December 27, 1949 - January 26, 2025
The family of Grant Mickelson is saddened to announce his sudden but peaceful passing at Royal University Hospital at the age of 75 years.
Grant was born in Prince Albert, Sask. to Ingrid and Clarence Mickelson on December 27th, 1949. He grew up on the family farm near Hagen with his parents and four siblings. He spent the majority of his life farming in the district. He married Kathie Sproat in 1990 and they shared their life between the farm and their home in Saskatoon. After retirement, Grant spent most of his time in Saskatoon, but a big part of his heart always remained at the farm.
He leaves behind cherished memories with Kathie, Andrew (Oryssa and grand-daughter, Brooklynn), and Jake (Sydney). He also leaves his siblings Earl (Phyllis), Ivar (Jean), Harry (Karen) and Grace (Brian) as well as many nieces and nephews who had lots of fun with Uncle Grant.
Grant lived with the challenges of Parkinson's Disease in the last years of his life. He greatly appreciated the Stroke and Parkinson's Exercise Program at the Saskatoon Fieldhouse. It was a mainstay of his rehabilitation.
Grant's family is very grateful for the thoughtful, compassionate care he received at the Royal University Hospital during the last week of his life.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 9th, 2025 at the Saskatoon Funeral Home at 338 4th Ave. North.
