Harry Arnold Arn Ford

d. September 25, 2016

Harry Arnold (Arn) Ford, 89 of Saskatoon, SK passed away on Sunday, September 25 at St. Ann’s Senior Citizens Home. Arn was born on May 10, 1927 to Harry and Marguerite Ford in Regina and was raised in Saskatoon. He worked and lived in and around the city most of his life, finally retiring to Vanscoy, SK. With his dad he owned Ford Agencies selling furniture wholesale. He then branched out on his own as a travelling salesman. Being outdoors was central in all that Arn did, whether it was hunting, working with his dogs, golfing, or gardening. As an avid hunter he introduced the sport to many younger men and was still hunting in his 80s with the West clan. They would take an annual trip to southern Saskatchewan to hunt pheasants: a time that was enjoyed by all. If Arn had one passion it would be his black labs. All but one of Arn’s dogs was named Paddy, the lone exception being Gunner. He trained his dogs to retrieve his game and to compete in Retriever Trials. He golfed at the Saskatoon Golf and Country Club as a young man and spent much time at the golf course at Pike Lake (where he had a cabin) with its sand greens and many cacti on the fairways. Arn loved to grow things; often growing more than he could use. He was so generous with his gifts of produce. Arn was predeceased by his parents, his sister Willie Leckie, and his wife Betty. He is survived by his step-daughters: Sharon Evans and Peggy Evans, his nephews: Terry Tosh (Janine) and David Tosh (Susan) and his goddaughter Phyllis Wilson.
