Harry Zacharias

1942 — November 25, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harry Zacharias on November 25, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer.  Harry was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elsie, of 37 years and 4 months, his infant son John Allan; father Abram and mother, Anna, brothers Peter, Abe and John, brother in law Bill Thiessen.  He is survived by his sister Anne Thiessen as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Harry was born on January 09, 1942 in the small village of Neuanlage, SK.  He married his wife, Elsie in 1965 and together, they made Saskatoon their home.  Harry worked for Intercontinental Packers (Mitchell Gourmet Foods) from 1961 until his retirement in 2005 and was very proud of his service and dedication of 44 years.  Harry loved sports, especially hockey, baseball, football, golfing, biking and pickle ball.  He was an avid runner and enjoyed running along the Meewasin Valley Trail for many years; he also enjoyed going to the gym for a good workout.  Harry always enjoyed going to church on Sunday, meeting new people and making friends; he loved having a good chitchat over coffee.  He will be greatly missed by all who shared in his life.   The family would like to thank the entire Palliative Care team at St. Paul’s Hospital for the wonderful care and support that they provided.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of Harry’s favorite charities, War Amps Saskatchewan ( www.waramps.ca ). A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Redeemer Lutheran Church (812 Preston Avenue).
