Helen Mary Williams

The family of Helen Mary Williams are sad to announce her passing on June 15th, 2017. She was born March 24th , 1920 in Swansea, South Wales. At the age of 22 she graduated from the University of London with a degree in Pharmacy. She married David Colwyn Williams in 1946 and moved to Northern Ireland where they raised their 4 daughters. She became an optometrist and ran her clinic out of her house. In 1961 the family emigrated to Saskatoon where Colwyn was on staff in the College of Law at the U of S. When he died in 1971, Helen took a job in the Pharmacy at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. After she retired she remained active as a volunteer in many organizations and moved to Luther Tower. Helen has spent her last few years at Prairie Springs Care Home and finished her journey at Porteous Lodge. The care she received in both homes was undoubtedly the best we could ever hope for. She was pre-deceased by her husband Colwyn, her daughter Margaret, her brother Hubert (Rona) and brother-in-law Jack. She will be missed by her 3 daughters Carys (Norm), Dilys (Brian), Gwyneth (Gord), her sister Gwen and extended family in England. Also left to mourn is Margaret's husband Jim. She dearly loved her 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, almost all of whom were able to visit her before she became gravely ill.
