Henry Peters peacefully departed this life on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. He was born on October 3, 1933, to Peter and Elizabeth Peters in Great Deer, SK. Henry began his educational journey at Walter Scott School, where he attended grades 1 to 8 in a charming one-room schoolhouse. On July 26, 1958, Henry married Mary Hiebert, and together they raised six children in Saskatoon. Before settling in Saskatoon in 1963, Henry worked diligently for numerous farmers. In 1968, he began his career at Federated Coop, dedicating himself to the company until his retirement in October 1993. Henry and Mary cultivated a vibrant vegetable garden, where he could often be found tending to it during the summer months, ensuring they had plenty of fresh produce to enjoy throughout the winter. One of Henry's greatest joys was traveling. The family often joked that summer had officially arrived when they saw him pull out the maps and start planning their adventures. This enthusiasm led Henry, Mary, and their family to explore many beautiful destinations across the USA and Eastern Canada, capturing countless memories along the way. In April 2008, Henry faced a challenging diagnosis of kidney failure, a difficult time for him and his family. As he learned he would need dialysis, his loved ones gathered around him, providing love and support as they faced the uncertainty together. His remarkable strength, faith, and fighting spirit, was ignited and he bravely navigated this journey, and the family was blessed to have him thrive on dialysis for an incredible 17.5 years—a testament to his resilience and the grace of God. After retiring, Henry and Mary enjoyed their morning breakfasts with friends and their daily walks together in Lawson Heights Mall, staying active and connected. He treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren, always offering his generous and loving nature to support them. Henry remained a faithful churchgoer for most of his life until health challenges made it difficult. Every Sunday, the family gathered at a restaurant to share a meal, making it a priority to be together. Henry leaves behind his six children: Florence Afseth (Wayne), Wayne Peters (Lynn), Murray Peters, Kelly Peters (Heather), Randy Peters (Sharon), and Jennifer Reimer (Robert); along with 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and his three sisters, Betty, Marion, and Agnes. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Mary, his parents Peter and Elizabeth Peters, his infant brother Willie, sister Teenay Peters, and brother Ernest Peters. In the past year, we witnessed Henry's health decline as he bravely battled dementia and the physical toll of dialysis, spending his final week in palliative care. After a long and courageous fight, he now rests with his Lord and Savior. His family will miss him dearly, and it is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to a godly husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
