Hilly Postma

1932 — June 13, 2022

Hilly Harmanna Christina Postma
1932 - 2022

With full hearts, the family of Hilly Postma wish to announce her peaceful passing on June 13, 2022, at St. Ann’s care home in Saskatoon. Born on February 25th, 1932 in Groningen, Netherlands, Hilly became an educated librarian. In 1956, she made her brave trip to Canada by ship with her husband Dr. Klaas Postma father to her children. Hilly is the mother of three children, and a wonderful Oma to their children.

Hilly was an art lover and her collection filled the walls of her home. She appreciated beauty-from her garden, fashion and she was an ardent reader. Hilly was a stylish woman who was the picture of modernity in her younger years and definitely had an eye for design. Hilly enjoyed supporting the Dutch men’s football team and the music of Nana Mouskouri. She was grateful for the treasures in life and those were by far her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

Hilly was predeceased by her parents Christiaan and Hendrika; her siblings Christiaan and Hetty; and her eldest child, son Hans, who she lost at 11 years old to paediatric leukaemia, in 1968. Left to share her memory are her daughter Michele (Curtis) Johnson and their children, Jessica Green and her son Mason; Stephanie Green and her daughter Mikayla Balon; Christopher (Misty) Green and their children Ethan and Taryn Green, Seth Wamback, and Nick (Brooke) Wamback, and their daughter Brielle; her son Robert (Gina) Postma and their children Hewitt Miller, Rupert Postma, and Harper Postma.

Our Oma, will be remembered dearly by those whose lives she touched with her kindness and sense of humor. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Ann’s for the wonderful care she received; most respectfully, for keeping her safe during the pandemic. Hilly will forever be at rest beside her beloved son, Hans, at Woodlawn Cemetery. Family gathering to take place at a later date.
