Ida Stanley (Cenaiko)
1931 - 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of Ida Stanley (Cenaiko) announces her passing at the age of 94.
Ida was born April 26, 1931, in a log cabin in Southern Saskatchewan and passed away peacefully on September 8th, 2025, in St. Albert, AB. She was the devoted wife for 37 years of the late John Cenaiko and the loving wife of the late Alan Stanley, her companion for twenty years following. She was also predeceased by her son Ivan Cenaiko and grandson Israel Cenaiko.
She is survived by her 2 sons & 2 daughters, Raymond (Lee) Cenaiko, Diane (Larry) Cronk, Linda Boser, and Donald (Bonnie) Cenaiko, daughter-in-law Bonnie Cenaiko, along with 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Ida lived a life of remarkable achievement and purpose.
She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie and friend to so many. Ida lived a life rooted in faith, family, and kindness. Leaving a legacy of strength and resilience that will continue to inspire all who knew her, it was her ability to make a simple moment feel special. She had a gift for connecting with people.
Growing up in the 1930s, Ida developed a determination, strength, and grit, which later in life would be a blessing to our entire family.
In 1949 Ida married John Cenaiko and started a rewarding life together raising a family of 3 boys & 2 girls.
Mom was an amazing cook, which made our home a gathering place for friends & family to enjoy a bowl of homemade soup, perogies & fresh bread. The favourites were borscht and kapusta!
Ida had several successful professional ventures that helped shape her story...running a boarding house with the help of her sister Esther in the 1950's, being the top salesperson at Birks Diamonds in the 1960's, and finding immense joy in cultivating beauty as the owner of a Merle Norman studio starting in the 1970's until 1989.
Her sister Vera called her the "Angel of the family," as she was always willing to be there and lend a helping hand.
When her grandchildren were asked to describe her, the following came back... "Compassionate, generous, lovely, soup queen, one of a kind, strength, determination, social butterfly, joyful and awesome skinny pancakes".
Mom was amazing and led by example; she will be greatly missed. Mom, we love you dearly.
